A five-story, 35-unit apartment building is proposed for 295 Waldemar Avenue in East Boston. Six of the apartments would be designated under Boston's Inclusionary Zoning requirements.
The proposal also includes 18 vehicle parking spaces and 35 bicycle parking spaces. The Boston Planning Department has scheduled a public meeting for November 4, with the posted comment period running through November 16.
Why it matters
This is another example of a smaller development that could add housing without being a massive neighborhood redevelopment. For residents, the questions now concern the building's design, its relationship to surrounding properties, and the affordability of the six designated units. No construction start has been established.
